Job Summary
The MSW Clinical Intern will participate as a member of the Clinical Department at Safe Place for Youth, providing essential support in Access Center programming, case management, and health and wellness therapy. The role includes conducting intakes, assessments, and referrals for youth, assisting in case documentation, participating in group therapy sessions, and co-facilitating workshops. Interns will develop case management and clinical skills with support from experienced staff and have opportunities to provide therapy services. Ideal candidates should be enrolled in an MSW program, and demonstrate organizational skills, cultural competency, and a willingness to undertake a variety of support tasks.
Required Qualifications
- Must be currently attending a university or college while enrolled in an accredited MSW program
- Must have a reliable method of communication
- Must have a valid Driver’s License and/or State ID
- Willing to complete a live scan (background check) and TB Test
- Is punctual and organized
- Able to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities and sexual orientations in a multicultural environment
- Willingness to work with folks of diverse experiences and backgrounds
- Can utilize a harm reduction, trauma-informed approach when working with young people
- Willing to accept a variety of tasks to support the function and services provided
Additional Requirements
- The person holding this position is considered a ‘mandated reporter’ under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act
- Effective August 9, 2021, all workers, paid or unpaid, in homeless services organizations must provide proof of vaccination or will need to undergo weekly COVID-19 testing
