Job Summary
The Social Service Specialist conducts psychosocial assessments, develops care plans, provides brief counseling, and coordinates referrals within Sea Mar’s MSS program, including in-home or clinic-based services. Responsibilities include client screening, advocacy to overcome barriers (e.g., transportation or language), documentation in EHRs, collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, and ensuring culturally sensitive, language-accessible support for pregnant and parenting clients. Requires a BA/BS and licensure/certification as a Counselor per Washington state requirements; bilingual English/Spanish preferred. The role emphasizes client-centered, culturally aware services, adherence to state regulations, and ongoing documentation and reporting within Sea Mar’s MSS framework. Hourly pay is $27.71 with part-time 0.4 FTE (two days per week). Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, PTO, retirement options, and additional company offerings.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
- Current Certified Counselor through the State of Washington Department of Health or Chemical Dependency Counselor
- Washington State driver's license
- Background check from Washington State Patrol
- TB test annually
- Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR within 90 days of hire and maintained
- Annual influenza vaccine or approved exemption with mask requirements
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
- Experience with underserved populations
- Experience with substance use disorders and crisis intervention
- Knowledge of EHR platforms and Microsoft Office suite
- Knowledge of patient-centered health home model
- Ability to work with interdisciplinary team
- Strong communication skills
- Typing 35 wpm+
- Knowledge of PHQ-9, GAD-7, AUDIT, DAST or equivalent tools
- Ability to coordinate referrals and provide brief counseling
