Job Summary

Develop and demonstrate thorough working knowledge of BioCryst products, current medical research, and publications to establish a credible Medical Affairs presence in the Piedmont region. Build long-term scientific relationships with key Health Care Providers, thought leaders, and patient organizations while representing BioCryst at relevant events and providing presentations to internal and external groups. Collect competitive intelligence, develop tools for medical functions, and respond to unsolicited scientific information requests. Support clinical initiatives including site identification, trial recruitment, and data presentations, while facilitating internal training and reviewing scientific materials for commercial teams. Adhere to all corporate and healthcare compliance guidance in all activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (Pharm.D., Ph.D., M.D)
  • 3+ years of related work experience (clinical, managed care, or industry experience)
  • prior rare disease experience
  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships with influential thought leaders
  • Ability to think strategically; apply knowledge and analytical skills in a highly regulated environment and align medical and commercial strategies
  • Ability to summarize complex information and present in a clear, concise and scientifically accurate manner to a range of audiences
  • Outstanding business acumen; knows the industry, BioCryst's value proposition, key competitors and other marketplace factors/dynamics
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; exhibits professional maturity, confidence, and competence
  • Adherence and compliance with all required regulatory guidelines
  • Ability to travel
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
  • Weekend travel

Desired Qualifications

  • 3+ years of related work experience (clinical, managed care, or industry experience) and prior rare disease experience preferred
