Job Summary
Cement mining safety specialist supporting MSHA/OSHA compliance and safety program execution. Responsibilities include developing, implementing, and monitoring safety policies; conducting safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments; investigating incidents and preparing reports with corrective actions; delivering safety training for employees and contractors; ensuring compliance with EH&S standards (OSHA, MSHA, ISO 45001); collaborating with department managers to identify hazards and implement preventive measures; maintaining regulatory safety records; serving as the primary contact for emergency response planning and drills; and running the Safety Award Program. Requires remote-work ability for plant operations, strong safety-management-system proficiency, and travel as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Mining Engineering, or related field preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience in mining safety, preferably in cement or heavy industrial operations
- First Aid/CPR preferred
- Strong knowledge of mining safety regulations and risk management practices
- Certifications such as NEBOSH, OSHA, or equivalent are highly desirable
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to influence safety culture
- Ability to work in remote environments and travel as required
- Proficiency in safety management systems and incident reporting tools
- Proficiency Microsoft products, specifically Excel
