Job Summary
Senior Manager, MSET QR Index Rebal Strat role based in Mumbai within Morgan Stanley's Quantitative Research group. The role involves analyzing index rebalances (flow estimation, quantitative/qualitative assessments, reporting), responding to client requests with bespoke analysis on index events and market structure changes, preparing scenario analyses and historical backtests, and sharing insights via emails and presentations. Collaboration with Sales, Trading, and Strats is expected. Requires 6-8 years in finance, a quantitative degree, strong Python skills, familiarity with Linux and automation tools, knowledge of index rebalances, ETFs, and risk-models/tools such as BarraOne, and excellent communication. Working hours are 2:30 PM–10:30 PM IST.
Required Qualifications
- 6-8 years of experience in the financial sector with hands-on exposure to equity markets
- Degree in quantitative discipline (e.g., BE, BTech, MS in Mathematics, Statistics, Financial Engineering, or Economics)
- Proficiency in Python and experience working with financial datasets
- Familiarity with Linux, shell scripting, and automation tools
- Knowledge of index rebalances, funds, ETFs, and related mechanisms
- Experience with risk models/attribution tools such as BarraOne
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to articulate ideas clearly
- Experience in generating content or authoring papers related to market structure or research outcomes (fundamental or statistical)
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines
