Job Summary
Conduct year-round sports training and athletic competitions for children and adults with intellectual disabilities across multiple Olympic-type sports. Teach athletes, develop individual training sequences, and manage season and practice planning while identifying behavior challenges and reinforcing sportsmanship. Provide a safe environment for emergencies and minor injuries, maintain confidentiality, and define responsibilities with parents, other coaches, and volunteers. Ensure prompt attendance and harmonious working relationships throughout the activity season.
Required Qualifications
- Current Class A Volunteer Status through Special Olympics
- Current certificate of concussion training
- Current coaching certification through Special Olympics for at least 3 sports (specific to the sports assigned to coach in this position)
- Attend work on a prompt and regular basis
- Maintain confidentiality
- Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public, students, and other employees
- All candidates offered a position will be required to successfully pass a criminal background check
- All candidates offered a position will be required to successfully pass a child and adult abuse registry check
