Job Summary
Establish the fundamental philosophy, skills, and techniques for the wrestling program while training and informing staff to encourage professional growth. Direct student managers, assistants, and statisticians, and supervise the implementation of specific duties with regular analysis of staff effectiveness. Maintain discipline, adjust grievances, and work to increase morale and cooperation among players, parents, and the community. Provide constant attention to student athletes' grades and conduct, ensuring proper safeguards for each participant during practices and games. Manage equipment storage, inventory, and maintenance while adhering to state and system regulations regarding eligibility and physical examinations.
Required Qualifications
- Thorough knowledge of all the Athletic Policies approved by the Swain County Schools Board of Education
- Knowledge of existing school system, state, and conference regulations
- Understanding of the proper administrative line of command
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, and the community
- Administrative and organizational skills
- Previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport
- Teacher license and employment as a teacher by the Swain County Board of Education
Desired Qualifications
- Teacher license and employment as a teacher by the Swain County Board of Education is strongly preferred
