MS Assistant Track Coach

Job Summary
Conduct daily practices and games while maintaining discipline, adjusting grievances, and safeguarding student athletes. Implement school, state, and conference regulations; train staff on skills and techniques; and evaluate assistant effectiveness at season's end. Manage equipment inventory, storage, and reconditioning; coordinate tournament logistics; and ensure facility cleanliness and security. Submit injury paperwork within 24 hours, monitor grades and conduct, and advise the Athletic Director on policy changes. Organize pre-season meetings, promote the sport through media and community programs, and maintain public relations with parents, boosters, and officials.
Required Qualifications
- Thorough knowledge of all the Athletic Policies approved by the Swain County Schools Board of Education
- Knowledge of existing school system, state, and conference regulations
- Understanding of the proper administrative line of command
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, and the community
- Must possess administrative and organizational skills
- Thorough knowledge of Swain County Schools athletic policy and procedure
- Thorough knowledge of the North Carolina Administrative Code and Statutes
- Previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport
- Teacher license
- Employment as a teacher by the Swain County Board of Education
Desired Qualifications
- Teacher license and employment as a teacher by the Swain County Board of Education is strongly preferred
