Job Summary
Assist with instruction and lead the team in competition. Supervise students and coordinate with the head coach and Activities Director. Attend annual coaches meetings; organize parent meetings to discuss policies and expectations; ensure completion and submission of physical and concussion forms; prepare equipment and uniforms; enforce training rules and eligibility; organize home events and prepare facilities; ensure consent for medical treatment cards are on hand; supervise locker rooms and training spaces; secure facilities after events; attend all practices and contests or be available for scouting; report injuries to head coach and athletic trainer; assist in notifying media of outcomes and preparing stats; help inventory equipment and uniforms; suggest new equipment purchases; may extend contract at no extra pay if team advances; comply with ADA and equal opportunity obligations.
Required Qualifications
- Current coaching license from State of Iowa
- Ability to work well with others and willingness to assume responsibility
- Ability to effectively supervise students while maintaining a positive relationship with them
- Enjoys working with young people as well as staff and parents
- Capable of representing the school in a professional manner, which includes, but is not limited to: confidentiality, good oral and written communication skills, regular attendance and appropriate dress.
