Job Summary
The MRO and Indirect Spend Buyer sources, negotiates, and manages procurement of maintenance, repair, and operating supplies (MRO) and indirect services to support manufacturing operations, aiming to minimize downtime while driving cost savings across indirect spend categories. Responsibilities include developing category strategies for MRO items (spare parts, fasteners, lubricants, PPE) and indirect services (facility maintenance, utilities, safety), supplier management with regular performance reviews, inventory level optimization (min/max thresholds for critical spares), managing the order-to-pay cycle (purchase orders in ERP systems such as SAP/Oracle, resolving invoice discrepancies, urgent procurement requests), and implementing cost-reduction initiatives using total cost of ownership (TCO) evaluations. Ensures adherence to purchasing policies, safety standards, and environmental regulations. Required capabilities include advanced data analysis, strong written and verbal communication, and proficiency with Microsoft Office products; education is a Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferred, with 3-5+ years of procurement experience in an manufacturing setting.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- 3-5+ years experience in procurement, specifically in MRO or indirect spending within a manufacturing environment
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP/Oracle) and MS Excel
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Proficiency in indirect sourcing functions and understanding of manufacturing processes and maintenance requirements
