Job Summary
Perform imaging procedures using sophisticated MRI technology, adapting to changes in field strengths and new techniques while ensuring safe and effective imaging for patients with medical implants. Operate under the general supervision of the Radiologist and MRI Supervisor, enforcing strict safety protocols regarding pacemakers, nerve stimulation devices, and electronic pumps. Provide mechanisms to assist patients with claustrophobia and exercise independent judgment to overcome patient discomfort. Requires a graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology school with advanced MRI certification or ability to obtain it within two years, plus two years of cross-sectional imaging experience. Schedule includes three 12-hour shifts per week every third weekend with on-call requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an approved school of Radiologic Technology (CAHEA/JRCT)
- Advanced certification in MRI (ARRT or ARMRIT)
- Two years cross sectional imaging and/or computer assisted imaging
- One year full time experience in MR
- Demonstrated superior technical knowledge and expertise in cross sectional anatomy
- A comprehensive knowledge of magnetic resonance physics
- Knowledge of biological effects to human tissue
- Knowledge of medical implants
- Ability to enforce MRI safety
- Capacity to exercise independent judgment
- Schedule is three 12-hour shifts per week
- Every third weekend
- Call is required for this position
Desired Qualifications
- Will obtain MRI certification within 2 years of hire (tracked at Department level)
- Has advanced certification in MRI (ARRT or ARMRIT) OR will obtain MRI certification within 2 years of hire (tracked at Department level)
- Two years cross sectional imaging and/or computer assisted imaging preferred with one year full time experience in MR preferred
