Job Summary

Operate magnetic resonance imaging equipment to produce cross-sectional images for diagnostic purposes by interviewing patients, verifying safety clearances, and positioning them on the scanner table. Monitor patient safety through the control room window, communicate via microphone, and perform studies following radiologist protocols. Review images for anatomical coverage and quality, gain IV access for injections, and verify correct patient data and exam orders. Key scan sequence parameters into the computer, display competency with RIS and PACS systems, and create Viewer and DICOM CDs. Maintain a safe work area per ACR guidelines and attend required training sessions. Work independently in a high magnetic field environment with occasional schedule fluctuations to meet departmental needs.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree or certificate in Radiologic Technology from a JRCERT accredited college or technical school
  • One-year related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must be ARRT registered in Radiologic Technology with advanced certification in MRI or Associate in Applied Science and ARRT registered MRI Technologist
  • If not registered in MRI, must pass ARRT advanced level certification exam within one (1) year of position start date
  • Continuing education in accordance with the ARRT, ACR, and State of Michigan
  • Certification in CPR and Blood Borne Pathogens
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as physician orders, exam reports, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and safety rules
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff
  • Must possess basic computer skills including but not limited to data entry, word processing and email correspondence
  • Ability to analyze patient care situations and adapt actions/procedures based on the conditions of the patient
  • Position may require pushing/pulling/lifting object and people in excess of 50 pounds
  • Open to full-time or part-time; second shift: 2:00 pm - 10:00 pm
  • Hourly, Non-exempt
