Job Summary
Prescreen patients for MRI compatibility and safety, positioning individuals for diagnostic studies while optimizing image quality with minimal discomfort. Perform quality imaging using optimal skills, instruct patients with age-appropriate communication, and independently decide on the completeness of studies. Start IVs, inject contrast material using sterile technique, and verify documentation, billing, and PACS entry to ensure accurate, timely service. Adhere to JCAHO safety goals, report errors, and maintain a clean environment while managing frequent interruptions in a busy clinical setting.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an approved magnetic resonance imaging course that meets current qualifications to apply for and take the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) board exam in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR) upon hire
- Must be ARRT (MR) certified by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists, or ARMRIT American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists within 6 months of hire
- Must be licensed by the Oregon Board of Medical Imaging
- Must complete BLS RQI during New hire orientation training
- Must have and maintain knowledge in the understanding of cross-sectional anatomy
- Must have the ability to make independent decisions regarding patient care and the completeness and appropriateness of exams ordered
- Must have general computer skills and experience
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation
Desired Qualifications
- Formal training program with completed range of documented or demonstrated technical competencies that include at least 6 months of full-time clinical experience in MRI
- Experience working in a Level I / II Trauma Center, or equivalent experience
- 1 year of dedicated MRI technologist experience
