Job Summary

Perform advanced MRI imaging duties requiring independent judgment on physics, biological effects, and medical implant safety protocols. Adapt to new imaging techniques while screening patients for claustrophobia and providing mechanisms to assist their comfort. Enforce strict MRI safety standards regarding pacemakers, nerve stimulation devices, and electronic pumps to prevent severe injury. Operate under the general supervision of the Radiologist and MRI Supervisor. Requires ARRT MRI certification, two years of MRI experience, and BLS certification.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate from school of Radiologic Technology approved by CAHEA/JRCT
  • Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), ARMRIT, or certified by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB)
  • ARRT MRI Certification
  • Advanced MRI specific certification by ARRT (for staff holding an ARRT license)
  • CE compliant according to governing body guidelines
  • BLS certified
  • Two years of MRI experience
  • Independent judgement
  • Comprehensive knowledge of MRI physics
  • Knowledge of biological effects to human tissue
  • Knowledge of medical implants
  • Ability to enforce MRI safety
  • Inherent compassion for patients with claustrophobia
  • Ability to provide mechanisms to assist patients in overcoming claustrophobia discomfort
  • Screening for medical implants with components not permitted into the magnetic field

Desired Qualifications

  • Two years of MRI experience
