Job Summary
Perform routine and specialized MRI imaging procedures, selecting appropriate technical factors and administering contrast per facility policy. Transport patients, verify orders, and prepare examination rooms while ensuring proper positioning to reduce burn risks and imaging artifacts. Screen every patient, restrict Zone 4 access, and maintain a safe environment in accordance with the MR Safety Program. Participate in departmental performance improvement initiatives, student and employee training, and equipment quality control including ACR phantom testing. Prioritize patient flow, coordinate care with the team, and document activities in electronic health records before distributing images to the PACS system. Work full-time weekends from 11am to 11pm.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree
- Certificate in Radiologic Technology or MRI from a program accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE) or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA)
- Three (3) to four (4) years of MRI experience
- Ability to independently perform all required MRI protocols
- ARMRIT Registered Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist certification
- ARRT (MRI) certification
- Internal candidates with 10+ years of MRI scanning experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross
- Knowledge of, or ability to learn, transverse and cross-sectional anatomical and pathological presentations
- Ability to perform, or learn, the technical operations associated with MRI equipment and procedures
- Ability to work effectively in stressful and emergent situations
