Job Summary
MRI Technologist performs a variety of magnetic resonance imaging procedures and scanners to produce detailed tissue images for medical diagnosis under the supervision of a radiologist. Responsibilities include preparing information for physician and care-team review, delivering patient care and education before, during, and after diagnostic imaging procedures, maintaining MRI equipment, ensuring safety during imaging and contrast administration, instructing patients on body positioning, and supporting quality assurance and related duties as directed by lead technologist, supervisor or manager. The role requires knowledge of imaging procedures, patient preparation, MRI safety guidelines, and the ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff; may involve travel between Jefferson sites depending on assignments.
Required Qualifications
- Specialized Diploma
- Graduate of an approved American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) program or High School Diploma/GED with ARRT certification
- Knowledge of radiography tools, techniques and applications
- Ability to utilize imaging technology on patients for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes
- Knowledge of and ability to prepare patients for diagnostic/radiological imaging and to monitor patients' reactions during and after a procedure
- Responds to emergent situations by applying appropriate measures
- BLS - Basic Life Support
- AHA - American Heart Association
