MRI Imaging Assistant

Job Summary
Conduct MRI safety screenings for patients, personnel, and non-personnel; identify risks and escalate concerns promptly. Perform basic patient-care tasks including obtaining vital signs, assisting with transfers, and preparing patients for exams under technologist supervision. Position coils safely and perform anatomical landmarking without initiating scans. Maintain controlled access to Zone III, prepare rooms between exams, and clean areas to ensure a safe environment. Import information accurately into the EHR and report equipment issues immediately. Work independently in a high-volume setting while maintaining strict confidentiality and providing excellent customer service. Requires current BLS certification; background check and drug screen required.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Current BLS certification (or obtained within 90 days of employment)
- Must pass a background check and drug screen
- Knowledge of MRI safety principles including screening, implants, and emergency protocols
- Understanding of anatomy relevant to MRI positioning and landmarking
- Competent in patient care tasks including obtaining vital signs and safely transferring patients
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and maintain focus in a fast-paced environment
- Computer literacy including basic EHR and PACS use
- Strong organization, multitasking, and attention to detail
- Frequent standing, walking, pushing or pulling
- Occasional bending, kneeling, squatting and lifting up to 30lbs
- Ability to use computers and phones for extended periods
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience in healthcare or patient-care support
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and PACS
- Experience in orthopedics, outpatient imaging, or medical assisting
