Job Summary
Perform raw material evaluation on incoming shipments by obtaining representative lot samples and reviewing COC/COA documentation. Conduct random in-process testing to verify operator results and perform AQL inspections on bulk or packaged products as needed. Release materials for use after confirming documentation completeness and compliance with GMPs and SOPs. Communicate out-of-specification issues to supervisors and operations personnel while assisting in investigations. Adhere to safety protocols, including reporting hazards and participating in training activities. Handle testing equipment and raw materials while lifting up to 55 lbs and navigating moderate noise levels. Work in all areas of NOW's manufacturing facilities with direct exposure to ingredients and potential biological materials.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Zero to two years related inspection experience
- Familiarity with general inspection procedures
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as product specifications, departmental instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine e-mails to communicate within QC and with operations personnel
- Good writing skills
- Good communication skills
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, and averages
- Ability to compare results to specifications to determine if result meets requirements
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions
- Ability to work in quick-paced environment and change tasks frequently
- Ability to learn quickly, operate independently, and to assume responsibility for new tasks
- Must be able to lift 20 lbs. from waist to 65 inches and return to waist level
- Must be able to lift 35 lbs. from 5 inches to 47 inches and return to 5 inches
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. from waist with 90 degree turn
- Must be able to raise 55 lb. pallet from floor onto one side, move it up to 10 ft. and return to original position
- Must be able to push and pull with force of 42 lbs. at 36 inch height
- Must be able to use his/her sense of taste or smell
- Must be able to ascend and/or descend stairs
- Must be able to reach, balance, or stoop
- Must be able to handle testing equipment, raw materials and finished product, tools, or controls
- Must be able to be exposed to vapors and/or herbal aromas
- Must be able to be exposed to potentially hazardous chemicals and biological materials
- Must be able to work in all areas of NOW's manufacturing facilities with direct exposure to ingredients (powders and liquids), mixes (powders and liquids), equipment, and packaging
