Mountain Operations Director

Job Summary
Director of Mountain Operations responsible for running Sandia Peak's mountain operations day-to-day and delivering end-to-end capital projects (lift replacements/upgrades, snowmaking expansion, terrain and infrastructure work). Will lead lift maintenance, snowmaking, grooming, and vehicle maintenance departments, set budgets and KPIs, ensure safety and regulatory compliance (OSHA and ANSI B77), coordinate with the U.S. Forest Service on permitting, and manage contractors and outside engineers. Must combine hands-on technical credibility with strategic planning and leadership to grow the resort's capabilities, deliver capital work on schedule and on budget, and mentor a high-performing operations team.
Required Qualifications
- Hands-on management experience in at least one of: lift maintenance, grooming, snowmaking, or vehicle maintenance
- Lift maintenance experience to apprentice level or electrician level
- Experience with snowmaking
- Demonstrated project management ability: planning, budgeting, and delivering projects on time and on budget
- Ability to work effectively with the U.S. Forest Service (or comparable land-management/regulatory partners)
- Bachelor's degree or higher in business, management, engineering, or a related field
