Job Summary
Director of Mountain Operations at Sandia Peak to run mountain operations and lead end-to-end capital projects, including lift maintenance, snowmaking, grooming, vehicle maintenance, forest-service coordination, and regulatory compliance. Responsibilities include building and leading the operations team, setting budgets and KPIs, delivering capital improvements end-to-end, ensuring safety and OSHA/ANSI B77 compliance, and partnering with Mountain Capital Partners to execute a long-term growth plan. Requires hands-on technical credibility, strong leadership, and experience managing capital projects in a ski-resort setting. Bachelor's degree or higher in business, management, engineering, or related field; ability to collaborate with the U.S. Forest Service and external engineers/vendors.
Required Qualifications
- Hands-on management experience in at least one of the following areas of ski area mountain operations: Lift maintenance, grooming, snowmaking, or vehicle maintenance
- Lift maintenance experience to at least the level of an apprentice lift maintenance mechanic or electrician
- Experience with snowmaking
- Demonstrated project management ability — planning, budgeting, and delivering projects on time and on budget
- Ability to work effectively with the U.S. Forest Service (or comparable land-management / regulatory partners)
- Bachelor's degree or higher in business, management, engineering, or a related field
- Strongly preferred: Experience leading large capital projects in a ski resort setting
- Lift maintenance experience to at least Journeyman mechanic or electrician level
- Snowmaking experience to at least Snowmaking Manager level
- Grooming experience
- Hands-on management experience across two or more mountain operations areas
- P&L / budget ownership experience
