Job Summary
Provide air conditioning and refrigeration maintenance and repair services, ensuring compliance with EPA standards and federal regulations. Diagnose trouble sources, determine repair extents, and rebuild major assemblies of internal combustion automobiles, buses, trucks, or tractors. Replace worn parts, grind valves, rebuild carburetors, overhaul transmissions, and repair fuel injection, lighting, and ignition systems. Requires a valid CDL, forklift license, EPA certification, and Public Trust security clearance. Based at Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Aberdeen, MD.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least two (2+) years' experience as a motor vehicle mechanic
- At least two (2+) years' experience as an HVAC repair technician
- Qualified and certified in accordance with Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technicians' EPA Certification standards
- Valid state-issued CDL
- Ability to obtain/maintain a forklift license
- Basic to intermediate level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Good judgment
- Ability to work alone or as part of a team
- Ability to Bend, Squat, Stoop, Crouch, Lean, Sit, and Balance
- Ability to Work with power/automated hand tools
- Ability to Lift/carry/push/slide up to 50 pounds
- Ability to Stand for long periods of time
- Ability to Repeat the same movements
- Ability to Work in an automotive repair shop around moving objects, vehicles, machinery with moving parts, and confined spaces
- Ability to work in exposure to adverse excessive noise, weather conditions, exhaust fumes, gasoline, diesel fuel, and other vehicle fluids/lubricants
- Must be able to obtain a security clearance at the Public Trust level
- U.S. citizenship
