Job Summary

Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic malfunctions in gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles and equipment. Repair, rebuild, or overhaul major assemblies including engines, transmissions, fuel systems, ignition systems, brakes, steering, and suspension components. Replace worn parts such as piston rings, bearings, and valves, while grinding and adjusting valves for engine tuning. Fabricate replacement parts by interpreting technical drawings and operating standard machine tools like lathes, milling machines, and grinders to shape metal to close tolerances. Transport equipment to remote test sites, perform field-level troubleshooting, and ensure vehicles remain mission-capable. Maintain logs, service records, and machining documentation while conducting operational testing to verify repairs. Requires a Secret security clearance, formal apprenticeship or equivalent trade training, and five years of vehicle maintenance experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Requires a Secret security clearance
  • Completion of a formal apprenticeship program in automotive repair, diesel mechanics, machinist trade, or related field
  • Technical school training in automotive repair, diesel mechanics, or machining
  • Military training in vehicle maintenance or machinist specialty
  • High school diploma or equivalent and five (5) years of relevant vehicle maintenance and machining experience
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in motor vehicle maintenance and repair
  • Demonstrated experience diagnosing, repairing, and rebuilding vehicle systems and assemblies
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience performing machining and fabrication tasks preferred
  • Experience operating machine shop equipment including lathes and milling machines preferred
  • Experience supporting military, test range, or heavy equipment maintenance operations preferred
  • Experience supporting field operations and remote site work preferred

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of system administration principles and practices
  • Knowledge of Windows Server, Linux, or UNIX operating systems
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V
  • Knowledge of system backup and recovery procedures
  • Knowledge of network services and infrastructure fundamentals
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity and information assurance principles
  • Ability to install, configure, and maintain computer systems and servers
  • Ability to troubleshoot system hardware and software issues
  • Ability to apply system security configurations and updates
  • Ability to maintain system documentation and records
  • Ability to manage user accounts and access controls
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a technical team
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • CompTIA Security+, Network+, or equivalent certifications
  • Microsoft, Linux, or VMware certifications
  • DoD cybersecurity requirements including RMF and STIG compliance
  • Experience supporting test range instrumentation or engineering systems
  • Experience supporting military, test range, or heavy equipment maintenance operations preferred
  • Experience supporting field operations and remote site work preferred
