Motion Sensing Hardware Engineer
On-siteCarlsbad, California, United States
Job Summary
Characterize product motion sensing performance across diverse environments, reporting results on detection range, field of view, and false positive rates to suggest design improvements. Diagnose engineering issues using a scientific method to identify root causes and collaborate cross-functionally with Firmware and ODM partners to resolve problems. Develop repeatable measurement tools and equipment for sensor validation while supporting factory build activities, yield optimization, and failure analysis. Define system metrics that align with customer perception and prepare technical presentations to communicate risks and mitigation strategies. Ensure technology compliance with the Compliance Team.
Required Qualifications
- Experience integrating a commercial mmWave radar solution into a shipping product.
- Working knowledge of radar fundamentals (range/velocity/angle resolution, point-cloud and tracking outputs), plus hands-on experience tuning detection and tracking parameters against real test data to hit product spec targets (range, detection accuracy, false-positive/negative rates, etc.).
- Comfortable across HW and FW - able to debug timing/GPIO-level issues (e.g. for TTFF analysis).
- Experience working directly with third party technology vendors to optimize device configuration and algorithms for our specific use cases.
- Experience with data analysis and visualization in Python.
- Proficient with test data reporting in a clear and succinct manner, such as generating plots, graphs, result tables,...
Desired Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with third party commercial SDKs - device configuration, parameter tuning, and extracting detection/point-cloud data.
- Experience with Passive Infrared Sensors
