Job Summary
Maintain Maintenance of Traffic equipment including message boards, arrow boards, and utility trailers by conducting inspections, diagnostic testing, and preventive maintenance schedules. Correct equipment deficiencies through removing, repairing, adjusting, and replacing major assemblies while verifying performance via system tests and control adjustments. Clean, wash, and paint equipment to maintain appearance and keep shop supplies stocked by inventorying stock and placing orders. Valid driver's license required with MVR and controlled substance test. Physical effort includes driving for several hours daily, lifting 50 pounds, and working outdoors in adverse weather. Flexible schedule includes day or night shifts, weekends, and holidays. Required Qualifications
- Valid driver's license
- Knowledge of local driving rules and regulations
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
- Physical agility to use arms, legs and hands repetitively
- Vision adequate to see moving vehicles, read highway construction MOT signs, read instructions, manuals, reports, and construction plans
- Hearing adequate to hear approaching vehicles, audible commands at a distance from supervisors, conversations in person, and over the telephone
- Ability to communicate clearly - both written and verbally
- Ability to complete daily paperwork as required by supervisor
- Ability to work a flexible schedule which can include day or night shifts, weekends and/or holidays
- Ability to adjust to a changing work schedule
- Ability to work overtime
- Ability to work individually and as a team with other employees
- Ability to work outdoors, working safely under adverse environmental and weather conditions which include high speed traffic areas, heavy construction equipment, fuel fumes and construction substances
- 12 Volt diagnostic ability with CPU, PCB, Solar Regulatory Chargers, & Character Panel wiring
- Familiarity with Series and Parallel electrical circuits in relation to battery configurations
- Welding/fabrication ability
- Understanding of basic hydraulic motor and cylinder functions
- Ability to determine equipment condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests
- Ability to identify worn and damaged parts
- Ability to complete preventive maintenance schedules
- Ability to install component and part upgrades
- Ability to perform general maintenance of trailers
- Ability to remove, repair, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replace major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components
- Ability to verify equipment performance by conducting tests, adjusting controls and systems
- Ability to clean, wash, and paint equipment
- Ability to maintain equipment records by annotating services and repairs
- Ability to follow operating instructions
- Ability to troubleshoot breakdowns
- Ability to maintain supplies
- Ability to evaluate service and parts options
