Job Summary

Mortgage Underwriter role performing independent screening of loan applications, determining eligibility, and underwriting mortgage files. Responsibilities include approving or rejecting loan applications, preparing written confirmation of findings, ensuring compliance with applicable guidelines and investor overlays, establishing underwriting conditions to clear loans to close, acting as liaison between investors and lenders, clearing file pends, and assisting with training. Requires strong attention to detail, ability to interpret guidelines, and proficiency with mortgage processing software. Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Associate Degree in Administration or Finance-Related field of study
  • 1-3 years required mortgage processing or underwriting experience required
  • 3+ years mortgage processing or underwriting experience preferred
  • Proficiency with computer, phone system, and general office equipment
  • Ability to learn and become proficient with Microsoft Office suite and other mortgage specific software applications
  • Highly developed attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize and work rapidly and accurately in fast-paced environment
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Knowledge of mortgage processing, underwriting and secondary market functions
