Mortgage Underwriter

Mortgage Underwriter responsible for underwriting first mortgages and home equity loan applications, ensuring all files are complete and compliant with internal policies, investor requirements, mortgage insurance standards, and applicable government loan regulations. Underwrites in accordance with secondary market and regulatory guidelines, evaluates borrower creditworthiness and collateral to determine loan eligibility, executes risk-based decisions, utilizes tools like Collateral Underwriter and AUS for risk assessment, ensures alignment with risk appetite and policies, stays current on investor/mortgage insurance guidelines, prepares commitment letters, clears loans for closing, reviews subordination requests, supports origination staff with preapprovals, restructures loans as needed to obtain approvals, tracks contingencies and rate locks, collaborates with internal stakeholders to resolve complex loan issues, and maintains confidentiality and compliance with Workers Credit Union culture. Remote work is allowed with occasional on-site meetings at the Littleton, MA headquarters; remote work eligibility applies to specified states.
