Job Summary
Underwrite conventional (conforming and non-conforming) as well as FHA and VA residential mortgage loans per product and investor guidelines using AUS and/or manual underwriting. Ensure loan compliance with investor requirements and federal/state laws, assess credit and collateral risk to maintain loan saleability and sound credit quality, and resolve post-closing issues to expedite closings. Stay current on investor and M&T guidelines, assist management in clearing conditions, and uphold internal control standards and regulatory requirements. Communicate effectively with internal staff and external customers to expedite decisions and loan closings; understand DU/LP valuations and utilize applicable tools to ensure saleability. Knowledge of conforming and non-conforming guidelines and ability to assess risk across credit and collateral processes are essential. Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree, or in lieu of a degree, 2 years' relevant work experience, plus 4 years mortgage underwriting experience, and Direct Endorsement (DE) or LAPP approval.
