Job Summary
The Mortgage Loan Originator is responsible for the origination of residential 1st mortgage loans through outside referrals, managing the loan process from application to closing. Key responsibilities include developing referral contacts, maintaining knowledge of mortgage company policies and available loan products, managing loan documentation, updating applicants on their loan status, and achieving defined sales objectives. Successful candidates must have a high school diploma, two years of mortgage lending experience, and a proven track record of securing $1 million in mortgage sales monthly. Registration under the S.A.F.E. Act is required upon employment.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent mandatory
- Must have two years for mortgage lending experience
- Must have an established book of local referral sources
- Must have existing mortgage sales of $1 million per month
- This position requires S.A.F.E. Act registration at the time of employment through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS)
Desired Qualifications
- Four-year college degree preferred
- Knowledge of conventional and/or government lending guidelines
- Knowledge of residential mortgage processing, underwriting, and closing procedures
- Knowledge of federal lending regulations governing real estate lending
- Demonstrated organizational skills

- Basic sales technique skills
