Mortgage Loan Officer

Job Summary
Originates first and second mortgages, loan assumptions, and endorsements while soliciting new business and maintaining relationships with realtors and industry professionals. Conducts loan interviews, secures borrower information, and pulls credit reports to analyze income, tax returns, and appraisals for loan approval decisions. Responds to inquiries regarding mortgages and construction loans, requests necessary orders for underwriting, and ensures compliance with RESPA, the Bank Secrecy Act, and other regulations. Meets monthly production goals and maintains working knowledge of FNMA Secondary Market guidelines and loan origination software.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Registration active and current with the National Mortgage Licensing System
- 1+ years' experience in mortgage lending
- Experience with Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Veterans Affairs (VA), and Federal National Mortgage (Fannie Mae), construction loans, and reverse mortgage loans
- Established mortgage relationships in the region
- Ability to motivate or influence senior level personnel, internally or externally
- Proficiency in developing and delivering material presentations on complex topics
- Ability to communicate at a level that does not disqualify the individual from fulfilling job responsibilities
- Knowledge of the organization's current mortgage loan interest rates
- Knowledge of commitment/rate lock/relock fee procedures
- Knowledge of consumer loan products/rates/guidelines used in conjunction with Mortgage Lending (Execulines, second mortgage products, swing loans, land loans, etc.)
- Proficiency in Bankpro loan origination software system
- Capability to climb / descend stairs in emergency
- Capability to operate routine office equipment including CRTs, typewriters, telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator
- Capability to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day
- Capability to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management
- Capability to be regular, reliable and timely
- Capability to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision
- Capability to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions
- Capability to complete complex mathematical calculations and spell accurately
- Capability to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence
- Capability to deal calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures
- Capability to demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public
- Capability to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace
- Capability to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities
- Capability to exercise highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters
- Internet speed of at least 100Mbps of download speed and 10Mbpd of upload speed of dedicated internet bandwidth
- Ability to be available to come into the office at any time during a normal shift
- Capability to comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, RESPA, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control
