Job Summary
Mortgage Loan Officer responsible for originating and closing mortgage loans, developing a strong pipeline of business through real estate professionals, builders, and referral sources; proactively generating leads and expanding client relationships. Consult with prospective borrowers to assess financial needs, analyze credit reports and financial statements, educate borrowers on loan programs (conventional, FHA, VA), and recommend suitable options. Manage loan applications in coordination with processors and underwriters for timely processing, maintain ongoing status updates to clients and real estate agents, ensure compliance with federal/state regulations, stay current on lending laws and trends, and maintain an active NMLS license. Deliver exceptional customer service throughout the loan process and ensure a smooth closing experience.
Required Qualifications
- Active NMLS license is required
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience as a Mortgage Loan Officer
- Strong sales and negotiation skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Proficiency with loan origination software (LOS) and customer relationship management (CRM) systems
- Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage a pipeline of loans simultaneously
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- High school diploma or equivalent; college degree in finance, business, or related field preferred
