Plan, pitch, execute, and promote stories that inform and delight audiences across tax, legal, government, and business sectors. Coach reporters on breaking bigger stories, select feature ideas, and ensure all content meets tight newsroom deadlines. Start at 5 a.m. to launch the morning newsletter lineup, ensuring timely, actionable, and engaging delivery to subscribers who need to stay ahead of the curve. Demonstrate sharp news judgment to unpack complicated legal and government actions while guiding reporters toward becoming stronger journalists.
Required Qualifications
- Seven or more years of experience in journalism
- Comfortable with an early morning shift
- Exceptional curiosity and news judgment to unpack complicated legal and government actions
- Demonstrate excellent editing and writing skills
- Be highly collaborative and show the ability to manage change, influence others in the newsroom, and communicate with reporters and editors of various backgrounds and experience levels
- Have excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Ability to juggle stories and meet tight newsroom deadlines
- Be a self-starter who sets high standards and leads by personal example
- A bachelor's degree
