Job Summary
Oversee year-round management of the NHYC Catalina shore facilities, including daily security patrols, rule enforcement, and maintenance of the whaler, floats, and BBQ areas. Handle basic construction, electrical, plumbing, and landscape tasks while coordinating with the Moonstone Mayor and management for specialized projects. Maintain the Cove's cleanliness by managing trash removal, restroom restocking, and barbecue preparation, ensuring the environment remains presentable for over 1,000 annual visitors. Operate the Club whaler for business use, perform weekly inspections, and coordinate storm preparations. Work flexible hours during high season from April through October, utilizing on-site living quarters provided by the club.
Required Qualifications
- Experience with yachting
- Self-starter
- Strong handyman skills
- Good communicator
- Friendly, welcoming and hospitable person
- Ability to work on his own with little to no supervision in remote location
- Self-supporting, independent worker
- Able to safely operate the Club whaler
- Intermediate mechanical and electrical systems knowledge
- Experience in small boat handling
- Experience in plumbing
- Experience in carpentry
- Marine safety knowledge
- First Aid, CPR and AED Certified
- Knowledge in basic gardening
- Knowledge in lawn maintenance
- Knowledge in fertilizer application
- Basic knowledge of computer systems
- Email use
- Online product ordering
- Microsoft Word/Excel software system use
- Good organizational skills
- Able to engage in moderate physical activity on a daily basis
- Able to lift 50 lbs
- Ability to swim
- Ability to dive
- Ability to snorkel
- Must be available for weekends and summer holidays (April through October)
- Must be available for Tuesday and Wednesday days off (unless major events occur)
- Must be able to work from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
- Must be able to work outdoors under warm sun and various weather conditions
- Must be able to handle lifting, kneeling/stooping/bending/reaching, walking, up/down stairs, climbing/hiking, boating, cleaning
- Must be able to personally manage and arrange working times based on the number of members and/or guests present
- Must be able to appoint someone to fulfill duties when absence from the Cove is longer than 24 hours
- Must coordinate winter holiday time away and vacations with management
- Must be able to wear a Navy NHYC Logo Polo Shirt, Khaki long pants and topsiders anytime members are present in the cove, especially on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from April through October
