Job Summary
Montenegrin Reviewer/Editor/Certifier to support the Department of Justice Linguistic Support Services. Responsibilities include translation of documents and media, interpretation for court and deposition settings, transcription, and handling materials across legal, financial, medical, and technical domains. The contractor will work with sensitive, confidential content and must maintain accuracy, preserve tone and register, and utilize CAT tools (notably SDL Trados Studio). Requires five years of Montenegrin-language experience with strong English editing skills, ILR 4 or equivalent, U.S. citizenship, and at least one year of experience with a law enforcement or legal department. Some travel may be required; location options include Remote, National Capital Region, and various CONUS locations.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Montenegrin language with superior English and editing skills
- Qualifying ILR 4 minimum or equivalent on language/translation tests
- Must have lived 3 of the last 5 years in the United States
- At least 1 year of experience working with a law enforcement and/or legal department
- US citizen
- Proficiency in bilingual terminology and slang in formal, diplomatic, and casual contexts in English and Montenegrin
- Experience with translation resources, monolingual reference materials, and online materials
- Native-level fluency and professional command of non-native language
- Ability to translate accurately without alterations
- Preserve tone and register of source language materials
- Ethics in linguist work
- Proficiency with CAT tools, especially SDL Trados Studio
- Active Public Trust or higher security clearance
- Location flexibility: Remote / National Capital Region / CONUS locations travel may be required
