Job Summary
Provide operational and clinical leadership for specialty departments or service lines across Montana rural healthcare organizations. Manage staffing, scheduling, call coverage, and workflows while supporting safe, high-quality, patient-centered care. Lead, mentor, and develop clinical and support teams; develop policies, protocols, and quality standards. Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and safety requirements; prepare for surveys, inspections, and audits. Manage supplies, equipment, vendors, budgets, and capital needs; plan for maintenance and supply-chain challenges in geographically isolated locations. Improve communication across departments, facilities, and tribal partners; support process improvement, service growth, and access expansion. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, executives, and regional leaders; monitor quality, safety, and performance metrics. Support telehealth, regional consultation, and care coordination when specialty resources are unavailable. Maintain essential services during vacancies, severe weather, wildfire impacts, or transportation delays.
Required Qualifications
- Progressive experience in the relevant clinical or ancillary specialty
- Previous leadership experience as a director, manager, supervisor, regional leader, or comparable department professional
- Strong knowledge of department operations, quality, safety, compliance, and regulatory requirements
- Experience leading teams, managing workflows, and supporting employee development
- The ability to collaborate across clinical, operational, executive, tribal, and regional teams
- Experience with budgeting, staffing, equipment planning, supply management, or performance improvement
- The ability to lead effectively when staffing, specialty support, transportation, or resources may be limited
- Experience serving rural, frontier, tribal, underserved, or geographically isolated populations
- Experience with rural hospitals, Critical Access Hospitals, public hospital districts, FQHCs, Rural Health Clinics, tribal healthcare organizations, long-term care organizations, or community healthcare organizations
- Experience supporting services across multiple locations or significant geographic distances may be valuable
- Relevant education, licensure, registration, or certification based on the specialty
- A visible, practical, dependable, and relationship-focused leadership style

- Some opportunities may require or prefer credentials related to nursing, sterile processing, laboratory science, radiologic technology, pharmacy, respiratory care, rehabilitation, cardiopulmonary services, or another clinical specialty

- Experience supporting services across multiple locations or significant geographic distances may be valuable
