Job Summary
Monitor activities of up to 500 serious and violent offenders on the Home Detention Program by investigating electronic alerts from radio frequency and global positioning systems. Dispatch law enforcement for program violations and hazardous situations using the Spillman CAD system, while performing background checks on warrants, protective orders, and driver's licenses. Install, maintain, and troubleshoot electronic monitoring equipment, providing instruction to offenders and inspecting gear upon discharge. Answer offender telephone lines to document leave and arrival times, entering demographic data into electronic monitoring software and updating local law enforcement databases. Create notifications for offenders taken into custody, hospitalized, or released, and serve as the initial investigator for escapes. Work the 2nd shift in a call center environment with frequent typing, detailed equipment inspection, and interaction with potentially dangerous offenders.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Information Technology (IT) or related field
- Public Safety Dispatcher Certification
- Proprietary Electronic Monitoring Systems Certification
- Computer Aided Dispatching (CAD) Certification
- Indiana Data and Communications Systems/National Crime Information Center (IDACS/NCIC) Full Operator Certification
- Valid Driver's License
- Ability to obtain and maintain required certifications within six months of employment
- Ability to simultaneously monitor and perform system documentation and data entry on electronic monitoring software system
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong computer skills with the ability to use Microsoft Office and other job-related software
- Ability to multi-task and answer multi-phone in a fast paced, high stress environment
- Ability to use a variety of law enforcement equipment and devices
- Knowledge of evidence-based principles and practices
- Ability to complete required Correctional EBP training programs
- Must model Pro-Social behavior at times and in all places
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
- Ability to bend, push/pull loads and kneeling
- Ability to work in extreme temperatures, dangerous equipment, chemicals, and noise
Desired Qualifications
- at least one year of experience in criminal justice processes, legal terminology or information technology
- Proficient in the use of Spillman law enforcement information network system
- Proficient in the use of Case Management Software (CMS)
- Proficient in the use of electronic monitoring proprietary software systems and related hardware
- Proficient in the use of Computer Assisted Facility Security System
- Proficient in the use of Mapping Software
- Proficient in the use of electronic monitoring equipment (CPS and RF)
- Proficient in the use of video surveillance system
- Proficient in the use of Odyssey/JTAC
- Ability to obtain certification in Motivation Interviewing and Interpersonal Communication within one year of employment
