Job Summary
Conduct continuous surveillance of telemetry monitors to assess and document patient cardiac rhythms, accurately recording rhythm strips at established intervals. Identify arrhythmias, promptly notify the nurse or licensed personnel of rhythm changes, and ensure monitoring equipment is functional and accurately configured. Troubleshoot monitoring equipment issues, escalate unresolved problems to Bio-med or IT, and organize equipment tracking for patient admissions, transfers, and discharges. Maintain effective communication with peers, staff, physicians, and leaders to ensure seamless care coordination. Perform other duties as assigned while maintaining regular attendance and complying with all policies.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a telemetry or EKG interpretation course
- 0-2 years of clerical and/or clinical experience in a medical setting
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting EKG rhythms and identifying arrhythmias
- Strong attention to detail and ability to remain focused in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot telemetry monitoring equipment
- Knowledge of patient safety protocols and escalation processes
- Organizational skills to manage equipment tracking and documentation efficiently
- BCLS - Basic Life Support
