Job Summary
Monitor Technician responsible for continuous surveillance of telemetry monitors to assess and document patient cardiac rhythms, identify arrhythmias, communicate findings to the healthcare team, and ensure monitoring equipment functions correctly. Responsibilities include interpreting rhythm strips, notifying licensed personnel of rhythm changes, coordinating with peers and physicians, troubleshooting equipment, organizing and tracking monitoring equipment for admissions/transfers/discharges, ensuring proper lead placement and electrode application, and maintaining patient safety and care delivery. Requires ability to read and interpret EKG rhythms, strong attention to detail, excellent communication, equipment troubleshooting, and adherence to safety protocols.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a telemetry or EKG interpretation course during orientation period required
- 0-2 years of clerical and/or clinical experience in a medical setting required
- Licenses and Certifications: BCLS - Basic Life Support required
