Job Summary
Continuously observe and interpret patient telemetry monitors, accurately recording rhythm strips at established intervals. Identify arrhythmias and promptly notify nurses or licensed personnel of changes, including potentially life-threatening events. Troubleshoot monitoring equipment issues, escalate unresolved problems to Bio-med or IT, and organize equipment tracking for patient admissions, transfers, and discharges. Ensure accurate lead placement and electrode application while maintaining effective communication with physicians and staff. Requires completion of a telemetry or EKG interpretation course, BCLS certification, and proficiency in reading EKG rhythms. Full Basic Life Support certification is required.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a telemetry or EKG interpretation course
- 0-2 years of clerical and/or clinical experience in a medical setting
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting EKG rhythms and identifying arrhythmias
- Strong attention to detail and ability to remain focused in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot telemetry monitoring equipment
- Knowledge of patient safety protocols and escalation processes
- Organizational skills to manage equipment tracking and documentation efficiently
- BCLS - Basic Life Support
