Job Summary
Monitor Technician monitors ECG patterns for all patients (including remote monitored) and coordinates on-going activities within the assigned unit. Responsible for documenting ECG strips, evaluating rhythms with RN, and alerting to changes of life-threatening alterations, considering patient age. Performs clerical duties to maintain medical records, answers communications, and supports patient privacy and safety in alignment with Joint Commission goals. Requires ability to work normal/scheduled hours including holidays, weekends, and on-call; participates in emergencies and community disasters as needed. Must possess or obtain required licenses/certifications (CNA/LVN/RN/EMT pathway and BLS); CPI training within 1 year of hire; basic arrhythmia recognition within 90 days. Disaster service duties apply per California Emergency Services Act.
Required Qualifications
- High school education or equivalent
- Completion of LVN or RN program fundamentals or current CNA license or EMT license
- American Heart Association BLS certification
- CPI training within 1 year of hire
- Basic arrhythmia recognition certification within 90 days of hire
- Experience as Unit Clerk/Monitor Tech in an acute care setting is highly preferred
