Job Summary
Assist the driver in the safe operation of the bus route and manage students identified by the school. Learn and follow route sheets or electronic routing devices; handle student management and communicate behavior issues with the driver; assist in pre-trip and post-trip inspections including child checks and wheelchair lifts; assist students loading/unloading; coordinate with school personnel, parents, and students; attend safety and training meetings; conduct emergency evacuations from the bus via the emergency door; clean the interior of the bus; perform other specialized functions as required by the contract.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Good verbal communication skills
- Ability to work early morning hours
- Professional and respectful attitude toward fellow employees and customers
- Dress in a professional and appropriate manner for a business environment
- OSHA guidelines & other applicable Federal & State laws
- Ability to use or learn to use internet and office equipment (fax, phones, etc.)
- Dexterity test and DOT physical, drug-free workplace compliance
- Reading street signs and route sheets
- English language communication with passengers, parents, school officials, dispatch, and driver
