Job Summary
Conduct molecular diagnostic analyses using real-time PCR to detect pathogens in animal samples, including homogenization, nucleic acid extraction, and result interpretation per Standard Operating Procedures. Operate laboratory equipment to run high-volume testing aimed at diagnosing animal illnesses for biomedical and life science professionals. Work within a team environment in a full-time role with potential exposure to biohazards and hazardous chemicals.
Required Qualifications
- 4-year degree in a Science-related field
- Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology (BA or MA)
- Strong coursework in Biology to include PCR experience
- At least 1 year of experience performing PCR testing in a high-volume, high-throughput testing laboratory
- Experience setting up, running, reading lab tests, and operating laboratory equipment
- Ability to set up molecular reactions, specifically PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction)
- General science background
- Analytical thinking
- Pipetting skills
- Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) as appropriate
- Ability to stand and sit for extended periods of time
- Ability to use phone & computer
- Extended reach
- Lifting up to 50lb
- Specific vision ability – close, color, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- Reliable and dependable attendance
