Job Summary
Molecular Biologist/Analyst needed for on-site role in Jacksonville, FL. Drive hands-on bench laboratory work and operate NGS instruments (Illumina or similar) to support upstream molecular workflows and connect to downstream bioinformatics analysis. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining bioinformatics workflows for NGS data, deploying pipelines in local and cloud environments, troubleshooting across lab and bioinformatics systems, managing genomic data lifecycle, training staff, and ensuring CAP/CLIA compliance. Requires substantial bench lab experience in molecular biology/genomics and experience with sequencing workflows, plus a Master’s or Bachelor’s with substantial relevant experience. The role emphasizes production-grade workflow development, data quality reporting, and collaboration with staff to support newborn screening sequencing programs.
Required Qualifications
- Hands-on experience running next-generation sequencing (NGS) instruments (Illumina or similar)
- Strong experience working as a bench lab technician or wet lab technician in a molecular biology, genomics, or clinical lab
- At least one year of experience performing sequencing workflows and/or analysis
- Experience supporting both laboratory sequencing work and bioinformatics analysis
- Familiarity with genomic data analysis tools and sequencing pipelines
- Experience in clinical genomics or Newborn Screening environments preferred
- Familiarity with CLIA / CAP lab environments preferred
- Must be eligible for Florida Laboratory License
- Master of Science (MS) with at least two years of work/research experience in bioinformatics, molecular biology, biology, biochemistry or related field OR Bachelor of Science (BS) with three or more years of work/research experience in bioinformatics, molecular biology, biology, biochemistry or related field.
