Job Summary
Operate and tend plastic molding machines, such as compression or injection molding, to mold thermoplastic materials to specified shapes. Set controls, load raw materials, and adjust heating equipment to melt or cure molds according to specifications. Open molds, remove finished products, and clean, lubricate, or trim parts while examining output for defects like dents or bubbles. Maintain consistent operation, keep production records, and report quality issues to the supervisor. Ability to run multiple machines and work overtime as scheduled.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED
- Manual dexterity
- Mechanically inclined
- Basic understanding of computer based machine controls
- Basic manufacturing/quality knowledge
- Ability to use simple measuring devices
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Basic English communication skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing)
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
- Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong
- Must meet or exceed company requirements for safety
- Must complete all required mandatory Safety, OSHA, and ISO 9001 training
- Ability to work overtime as scheduled
