Job Summary
Design and develop precision molds for injection molding using CAD software, collaborating with product designers and manufacturing engineers to ensure designs meet specifications. Perform mold flow analysis and simulations to optimize performance, reduce defects, and improve cycle times. Create technical drawings and documentation for fabrication, then support prototyping, testing, and validation to verify functionality. Troubleshoot mold-related issues during production, recommending design improvements as needed while ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety protocols. Maintain proficiency in SolidWorks and injection molding processes, staying updated on advancements to drive continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field
- Experience in mold design
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks)
- Strong understanding of injection molding processes, materials, and mold manufacturing techniques
- Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and creating technical drawings
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Strong communication skills to interact with internal teams and external vendors
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with 3D printing or additive manufacturing for prototyping
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles or Six Sigma methodologies
- Familiarity with CNC machining, EDM, or other mold fabrication processes
