Job Summary
Conduct freezing, microtomy, staining, grossing, and general tissue processing for Mohs lab samples to ensure rapid turnaround. Label, file, and store slides while managing inventories of solutions and reagents. Dispose of stains, clean glass containers, and maintain cryostat temperatures and laboratory records. Assist with Clinical Laboratory Evaluation Program requirements, update Standard Operating Procedure Manuals, and participate in studies. Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and cover shifts during lead histotechnologist absences. Requires certification in MOHS histology and NYSED licensure.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or High School diploma with an equivalent of histotechnical education, training, and work experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a MOHS lab
- Certification in MOHS histology
- Licensed by the New York State Department of Education (NYSED) as a Histotechnologist, Clinical Laboratory Technologist, Clinical Laboratory Technician, or Pathologist's Assistant
- Ability to work independently and accurately in a fast-paced, action-oriented environment
