Job Summary
Develop vehicle and system models representing plant and control algorithms using the Mathworks toolset, including Simulink, while managing version control and task workflows. Define model and control algorithm requirements, build and test models, and conduct peer reviews to ensure formal verification. Prepare and present results and documentation to customers, supporting both commercial and defence projects within the Marine Business Unit. This contractor role is predominantly based in the Bristol office with remote options, initially for six months. UK nationals are required due to security restrictions.
Required Qualifications
- UK national
- Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a related discipline (preferably Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering Mathematics, Physics, or similar)
- Matlab/Simulink
- Hydro-actuated systems
- Electro-mechanical actuated systems
- Multi-body simulation
- Vehicle dynamics
- Systems engineering
- Industrial engineering experience, using modelling for the development and analysis of complex systems
- Background in ANY of the following disciplines: Hydro-actuated systems, Electro-mechanical actuated systems, Multi-body simulation, Vehicle dynamics, Systems engineering, Flight controls, Dynamic loads, Real time models, Motor control, Vehicle control, Actuation systems, ARP4754, DO178, DO331
Desired Qualifications
- Application within the Marine sector
- Advanced control theory, such as Kalman filters, and state estimation
- Real time models
- Code generation
- C/C++
- Flexible, can-do approach
- Ability to deal with multiple conflicting requests
- Professional attitude
- Self-motivated to see tasks through to successful completion
- Strong time management and organisational skills
- Good understanding of the use of version control software (e.g. GIT) and task management toolsets
