Job Summary
Modeling & Simulation Specialist responsible for configuring digital representations of complex military systems within the AFSIM framework to support operational utility, asset vulnerability, system integration, and concept-of-operations assessments. Collaborate with domain experts to model systems at the mission level, assemble known information, and use engineering judgement to fill gaps for real-world hardware/software processes. Manage time effectively, interface with customers, and deliver capabilities at the speed of relevance. Coordinate with other model specialists and developers to plug capabilities into a system-of-systems environment for large-scale mission vignettes. Onsite collaboration in Dayton, OH. For the Developer role, modify simulation frameworks to add functionality and develop new plugins to enhance framework capability.
Required Qualifications
- BS or BA in math, physics, or engineering
- US Citizenship required for consideration
- Minimum 2+ years of experience using the Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration, and Modeling (AFSIM) to model systems and systems of systems
- Verifiable experience supporting government (military) programs
- Proficiency in applying modeling & simulation techniques to support the decision-making process
- Education/Credentials: BS or BA degree in a math, physics, or engineering discipline
- Nice to have – Secret level clearance (optional)
- Experience with C++ development (preferably C++11 or higher) for Developer role
- Familiarity with Python, MATLAB/Simulink, or Julia (Nice to have)
- Experience modifying the AFSIM framework through development of new plugins (Nice to have)
- Deep understanding of the World Simulation Framework (Nice to have)
- Ability to explain component-based architecture and related terms in AFSIM context
- Experience with other mission-level simulation frameworks (Nice to have)
- Physical Demands: able to remain stationary and work on a computer for prolonged periods
- US government security clearance eligibility (Nice to have)
- Bachelor’s degree in math, physics, or engineering (required)
