Job Summary
Modeler I supports the data administration, configuration, testing, and distribution of geospatial and electrical grid models core to Electric Delivery and Ops Technology & Innovation. Interpret maps and/or drawings and make/reconcile model changes in Tampa Electric’s GIS, ADMS, EMS and associated systems, working closely with technical team members to deliver solutions aligned with ED goals. Focus areas include CAD, GIS, G Technology, Arc GIS and ESRI tools. The role involves monitoring applications to ensure data integrity, performing basic configurations and tests of GIS/ADMS/EMS models, developing ad-hoc data queries/reports, collecting and communicating business needs to IT and engineers, and supporting small non-complex projects. Advancement depends on performance and business needs. Occasional travel may be required; primarily in-office at the Energy Control Center in Tampa, FL.
Required Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent
- Related Experience: 2 years of experience related to the duties & responsibilities of this position, working with/supporting distribution or transmission electrical system models
- Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Proficient in development fundamentals; data collection and analysis; knowledge of power flow across electrical grid transmission and distribution devices and systems; ability to read maps and schematics for distribution, substation, and transmission; knowledge of electrical transmission or distribution modeling practices; proficient in writing queries and reports with knowledge of related technical applications; knowledge of GIS systems and workflows; knowledge of work management systems and workflows; ability to assess processes and provide GIS, ADMS, or EMS system solutions
- Preferred: Specialized Certifications (e.g., Certified GIS Professional)
- Education: Associate or technical degree preferred; degree may substitute for some years of experience
