Job Summary
Mobile Service Technician II is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, basic and advanced adjustments, repairs and component replacements with limited supervision on heavy-duty trucks and trailers. This role includes basic diagnostic operations to identify vehicle system failures and recommend repairs, testing of vehicles and components, brake and suspension work, electrical and exhaust system repairs, welding, and fabrication tasks in the shop or on service calls. The technician may participate in after-hours on-call rotation and must maintain a clean, safe workspace, have a valid driver’s license, and bring needed hand tools. A high school diploma or GED is required; Diesel Technology certification is a plus. At least 3+ years of hands-on experience with Class 7 & 8 trucks is expected; CDL is preferred but not required. Knowledge areas include brakes (air, hydraulic, electric), steering, HVAC, fuel systems, PTOs, and durable components; ability to perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, lubrications, and filter replacements; troubleshooting and repairing suspension, wiring, and driveline components; and ability to operate power tools and welding equipment. This role is based in New Castle, Delaware, with on-site work in a shop or on service calls, and may involve on-call rotation for the location.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Diesel Technology certificate/degree is a plus, but not required
- 3+ years of experience with repairing class 7 & 8 trucks and trailers
- Welding
- Air Brake Certification
- Valid driver’s license with good driving record
- Class A CDL is preferred, but not required
- Must provide hand tools, air tools, and toolbox
- Maintain perfect safety record
