Job Summary
The Carman Mobile Railcar Repair Technician Lead is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing freight railcars at customer sites, including tank cars and boxcars. Key responsibilities include on-site inspection and maintenance, valve repair and installation, structural and running gear repairs, and compliance with regulatory standards. Qualified candidates will possess a high school diploma or GED, have at least 2 years of relevant experience, and a valid driver's license. Attention to detail and the ability to work independently are essential.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 2+ years of experience in railcar repair or related field
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record; CDL preferred or willingness to obtain
- Ability to read and interpret valve schematics and safety documentation
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
Desired Qualifications
- Welding certification (FCAW, SMAW)
- Familiarity with FRA and AAR regulations
- Experience with valve repair tools
- Hydrostatic testing experience
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to work in varying weather conditions
- Some overnight travel may be required
